With the first month of the year over, we can only expect even more exciting news when it comes to the new mobile phone releases for 2016. Android phones, in particular, have a lot to offer this year. If you’re looking to buy a new phone or upgrade your old Android handset, we’ve rounded up the best Android phone releases you need to look forward to this 2016.

Samsung Galaxy S7

With the success of the Samsung Galaxy S6, the Korean mobile phone manufacturer has big shoes to fill. If last year was a big deal, Samsung is gearing up to make 2016 an even bigger deal with its upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7. While we don’t know much about the phone just yet, there are rumors that the brand might bring back some of the features dropped from last year’s Galaxy S6. Naturally, mobile users can also expect new features that will make the upcoming Android phone a cut above the rest.

The Galaxy S7 is expected to boasts a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with an impressive 2560×1440 resolution. Rumour also has it that Samsung will be bumping up the battery to 3,000 mAh, which means longer battery life while the camera may go back to 12MP rather than copying Galaxy S6’s 16MP camera.

HTC One M10

Of all the upcoming Android phone releases this 2016, we’ve heard little details about HTC’s upcoming offer. One thing we do know, it will be possibly named the HTC One M10, an upgrade from last year’s One M9. According to a few rumors, the next HTC flagship will sport the signature unibody metal design just like its predecessor. It also features a fingerprint sensor at the back. As for the camera, we can only hope HTC offers a better camera this time around.

LG G5

When Samsung decided to ditch features such as a removable battery and the card slot for microSDs, LG was able to win over some of the market share with its LG G4. Though it did not exactly overtake Samsung’s lead, the brand certainly has established an even solid reputation in the market. This 2016, LG hopes to win over more customers with its LG G5 offering. In addition to new distinct features, the phone will also sport a new metal frame, two back cameras and a smaller 5.3-inch screen.

Google Nexus 6

Though there are no confirmations just yet, rumors have been floating around that the new Google Nexus for 2016 will feature the Snapdragon 820 chip hence more efficient as well as more powerful than its predecessor. Rumors further reveal that the new Nexus may also follow Apple’s lead when it comes to the control features. You can also keep a look out for a new operating system. If reports are to be believed, the Nexus 6 2016 may use the rumored Android N OS. Either of the brands HTC or Huawei will produce the new Nexus 6.

Nextbit Robin

Like most people, you’ve probably only heard of Kickstarter just now. There’s no surprise there seeing that the brand has been quite a disappointment producing subpar handsets people will just not talk about especially with the intense competition in the market. This 2016, however, the brand may offer something worth noting. The upcoming phone will be called the Nextbit Robin and it will sell at £399 price tag. Key features will include a Snapdragon 808 processor, 5.2-inch screen, 13MP camera and 32GB storage. But the distinctive selling point has to be the cloud-first feature, which basically offloads apps and data to the cloud so you have more local storage at your disposal.
